Why I chose fitness

I knew from the beginning that I wanted to look into fitness as one of my topics. This is because I was never really active before coming to university. However, towards the end of first year I began going to the gym and running every other day. I realised how good it was for my mental well-being as I was struggling with a lot in my personal life. I found that I could use exercise as a positive distraction. I hope to learn more about fitness and I'm excited to understand why/how it has made such a beneficial impact to me.

I always find it interesting to learn about statistics. I was surprised to find out that the percentage of men and women who were physically active was very similar. This is most likely due to the stereotype of men being strong and muscular that dominates society. I'm glad that it is more equal and think it would be great to spread more awareness of this, as some women or girls may feel intimidated to exercise by thinking with the mindset that only males work out.
