The goal is to create a playful experience for users to practise cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles and techniques using a non-clinical approach. The gameplay should be stress-free, with strong elements of mindfulness. This will be reflected through the pet-simulator platform where nurturing different pets and completing mini-games are the main tasks. This game aims to provide the player with a feeling of control and understanding of their emotions, hopefully improving their overall mood and behaviours once they finish playing.
The final product deliverable should:
- Be a fully playable game available on iOS.
- Have an appropriate number of pets to care for.
- Allow the player to learn more about their thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
- Have an appropriate number of playable mini games.
- Be suitable for a young audience.
- Provide a therapeutic experience that allows the user to de-stress.
Personal Goals:
- Express my interest in the serious games genre.
- Create a game that aims to help and support people.
- Submit a strong portfolio piece that demonstrates my ability to produce a fully functioning game.
- Challenge my ability to learn/develop hard skills within a brief amount of time e.g. software like Unity and Photoshop.
- Become more efficient in my documentation and iteration process.
