Initial problem statement and essential experience can be found here.
Following my 3 game ideas presentation, I had a lot of conversations with people in my class and it seemed to be a common theme that they feel as I’m forcing the mechanic of ‘drawing’ into my game ideas because of my cognitive behavioural art therapy (CBAT) theme. Originally, I moved from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to CBAT because I was finding it difficult to make game ideas fun and interactive, which was a goal of mine. My plan was to use these art-therapy adaptions below e.g. ‘draw problematic situations’ to drive the gameplay:
However, after selecting the game idea I wanted to take forward (which can be found here), I talked to Emma and managed to create a solid game idea foundation that doesn’t directly focus on integrating CBAT techniques (which can be found here). Instead, it looks at a general therapy-like experience. I decided to drop the emphasis of art, though there is still opportunity to incorporate creativity within the game.
Because of this decision, I now have to revise my problem statement and essential experience as they were bot written around CBAT.
How can the methods and teachings of CBAT be used in a game?
Important things to consider:
I took some time to look at my original statement and quickly brainstormed some ideas about how I could change it.
